Passion Mosaic

Pastor Ryan Warne-McGraw of St. Andrew Lutheran in Whittier, California designed a worship series based on the creation of a passion mosaic. The first week of the series they filled large clay flower pots with soil, using their bare hands to connect to their humanity. The second week they broke tiles during worship as a confession of their own brokenness. During that week a mosaic artist created a simple Christ figure on each of the pots and then at the next service the worshipers glued broken pieces of tile to the pots around the design as an act of hope in redemption. The fourth week they mixed grout and applied it to demonstrate how God’s grace fills the gaps and makes us whole. Finally, with the passion mosaics completed they planted flower bulbs as an act of faith in the new life of resurrection in Jesus. (StrengthWorship)
